Advocate Health and the Chicago Cubs recognized health care workers worldwide this weekend during the MLB World Tour: London Series 2023 presented by Capital One. As a symbol of gratitude and appreciation for health care workers, Advocate Health was the jersey patch on the Cubs uniforms during their June 24-25 matchups against the St. Louis Cardinals at London Stadium, paying tribute to the unwavering commitment of health care professionals who served skillfully and compassionately throughout the global pandemic. To further highlight their contributions, Advocate Health and the Cubs invited the three nurses – including two from Advocate Christ Medical Center – to attend the London Series and exclusive Cubs events. Each played a vital role in caring for critically ill patients throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Those lucky individuals included Lauren De La Torre and Jill Trumpey from Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, and Suzanne Taylor of Atrium Health Pineville in Charlotte. The three nurses took the opportunity to take in all the sights and sounds of London, including Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge and Borough Market, just to name a few. The nurses and their guests also took in both games at London Stadium as the two teams split the weekend series. They even ran into and took pictures with die hard Cubs fan and Golden Globe Award winning actor, Bill Murray. The London event was originally scheduled for 2020 but was delayed three years due to the pandemic.
