The Workers’ Rights Board of Chicago Jobs with Justice will hold a hearing on Saturday, June 3, at 2p.m. at Mt. Carmel M.B. Church, 2976 South Wabash Ave., to explore the breakdown of relations between Howard Brown Health and the recently unionized staff.  Three panelists from Howard Brown will discuss layoffs, working conditions, and issues with patient care at Howard Brown. The organization currently struggles to provide adequate care to the community it claims to serve, according to the Workers’ Rights Board of Chicago Jobs. The layoffs eliminated 50 percent of behavioral health providers and many of those left behind quit due to unsustainable working conditions. Howard Brown no longer has a crisis response team, instead recommending that patients in crisis call 911. The Workers’ Rights Board wants Howard Brown employees and also community members and patients to have a chance to speak out about these injustices.  The public is encouraged to attend as well.  The hearing will last no more than 2 hours and will offer the opportunity to hear others’ stories and speak about your experiences.
