Community Safety (ACS), one of the nation’s leading crisis response departments, welcomed a delegation of senior government officials from the City of Chicago this week as the city works to expand its alternative response programs. For the past two years, ACS leadership has worked with Chicago officials to share best practices and lessons learned from Albuquerque’s innovative approach to behavioral health and community well-being. Chicago currently operates its Crisis Assistance Response and Engagement (CARE) Program and is looking to build on that foundation by learning from established leaders like ACS. The delegation included Cristina Pazione-Zayas, Chief of Staff for the Mayor’s Office, Arturo Carrillo and Emmanuel Andre, Deputy Mayors, and Angela Green, Commissioner of the Department of Family and Support Services, along with representatives from the Chicago Police Department, Chicago Department of Public Health, CARE Program, City Council, and the Mayor’s Office. During the visit, Chicago leaders met with City of Albuquerque executive leadership, ACS, Albuquerque Police Department, Albuquerque Fire Rescue, Emergency Communications Center staff, and other public safety partners.
