As children across the state start a new academic year, State Senator Javier Loera Cervantes is hosting a back to school event in preparation. The back to school event will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28 at How To? Beauty & Barber Academy, a Latino-owned community barber school with a majority of Latino students that is located at 5931-35 W. 35th St. in Cicero. The free event gives back to the community by providing free haircuts, backpacks and other resources for school. The town of Cicero and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services are co-sponsoring the event. For more information on the event, people can contact Cervantes’ office at 773-869-9050.
