Summer is wrapping up and Chicago Public Schools (CPS) reminds families to mark calendars for the first day of school which for kindergarten through 12th graders is Monday, August 24 while all preschoolers will start the next day on Tuesday, August 25.  Families are encouraged to start preparing now by checking the District’s health requirements and lists of recommended school supplies. It’s also a good time to help children get back on a sleep schedule conducive to the upcoming school day schedule.  The District has set a separate first day for Chicago’s youngest learners, aiming to provide a calmer start to the school year following the first day’s excitement with older students. Families with children attending charter school should check with their own school administrators as those start dates may vary.
