The Cook County Assessor’s Office celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month a community event focused on empowering Latinas and families to pursue homeownership and build generational wealth. This event was part of the office’s ongoing Racial Equity & Real Estate Conversation series. The event included a panel discussion with local housing and community leaders and a resource area for attendees to learn about programs available for homeowners and prospective homebuyers. There was also a soft play area for children, creating an inclusive environment for families. Participating organizations included The Resurrection Project, Brighton Park Neighborhood Council, and La Casa Community, and Southwest Equity Assurance Program. Panelists included Erica Esquivel, managing broker, The Resurrection Project; Angie Maciel-Wright, owner of La Casa Playroom and Community; and Lupe Marin, Director of Outreach, Cook County Assessor’s Office. The Cook County Assessor’s Office administers property tax-saving exemptions for homeowners.
