ISBE Invites Public Input in FY 2028 Education Budget

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Education

Input from educators, families, students, and community advocates across Illinois will help shape the state’s fiscal year 2028 public education budget proposal. The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is now accepting funding requests through the Budget Written Testimony Form on its Agency Budget Information webpage. Past stakeholder recommendations have helped inform investments in Career and Technical Education, National Board Certification, alternative education programs, and other key initiatives. Anyone with a funding request must submit written testimony through the online Budget Written Testimony Form. Those who submit written testimony may also provide oral testimony at one of three public budget hearings scheduled for Oct. 5 virtually, Oct. 21 in Springfield, or Nov. 5 virtually. ISBE gives equal consideration to written and oral testimony. Registration deadlines, webinar links, testimony instructions, and information about requesting accommodations are available on ISBE’s at www.isbe.net
