Meridian Health Plan of Illinois, Inc. (Meridian) and Safer Foundation (Safer) welcomed new residents into newly renovated, affordable apartments in the South Austin neighborhood of Chicago with a ribbon cutting ceremony of the new Safter Foundation Building and hosted the opening of the Safer Foundation Community Closet, sponsored by Meridian. Meridian and the Centene Foundation provided a $2.2 million grant to Safer for the purchase and renovation of an apartment building in Chicago’s South Austin neighborhood. The building offers stable housing for individuals and families, including those returning to community living and those transitioning from institutional or supportive care settings. New residents were welcomed to newly renovated apartments with security upgrades, structural repairs, new roofing, and HVAC systems. For more information, visit www.saferfoundation.org.
