The Mexican Patriotic Club (MPC) hosted the 86th Annual Mexican Independence Day Parade on Sunday, September 14, 2025. Event sponsor DoorDash contributed $1,500 to support both the parade and MPC’s scholarship fund which awards a four year, $1,500 per year scholarship to an outstanding high school senior. “The Mexican Patriotic Parade is the oldest parade in Chicago, held in the city’s oldest Mexican neighborhood and organized by the oldest Mexican organization in the Midwest,” said Carmela Vargas, President of the Mexican Patriotic Club. “While we’re all Americans, it’s important that we honor and remember those who came before us, this year more than ever. We are grateful to DoorDash for supporting our community’s celebration as well as our students’ futures.” Founded to celebrate Mexican heritage and culture, the parade also honors the history of generations of Mexican immigrants who settled in the surrounding neighborhoods and built strong community roots. Today, the MPC carries forward that legacy by investing in local students through scholarships. “We are proud to partner with the Mexican Patriotic Club as they commemorate this year’s Mexican Independence Day,” said Clark Kaericher, DoorDash’s Head of State Government Relations.
