Nature Unplugged, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting preventative mental health through nature connection and digital wellness, announces the return of its fifth annual Hike-A-Thon, taking place October 1–31, 2025. The free, month-long event inspires participants across North America to log miles outdoors, unplug from screens, and reconnect with nature — while raising funds to support digital wellness education in schools and communities. The Hike-A-Thon marks the second year of partnership with CPS, building on successful workshops, educator trainings, and student engagement programs launched in 2024. From October 1–31, participants can hike, walk, or run at their own pace — whether it’s a walk around the block, a lakefront stroll, or weekend hikes with family (or pup!). Every step counts toward a healthier, more connected community. Participants can also take on weekly themed challenges for chances to win prizes. In 2024, more than 5,000 participants across 30 U.S. and Canadian cities took part — advocating for more green time, less screen time, and healthier communities. Proceeds raised in Chicago will fund school-based digital wellness programs, educator trainings, and student clubs in CPS classrooms. To register, visit www.natureunplugged.com/hike-a-thon
