In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Cook County Clerk Monica Gordon and her staff collected more than 250 “Love Purse” donations filled with personal care items and handwritten notes of encouragement to support women receiving services at domestic violence agencies throughout the county. The initiative was held in partnership with #LovePurse, a nonprofit organization that provides purses filled with essential items to women who are survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking. The donations were gathered during the Clerk’s annual Love Purse event, where employees and community members came together to show solidarity and compassion for survivors. “Victims of domestic violence often feel isolated and alone. A simple gesture — like receiving a purse filled with supplies and a heartfelt note — can serve as a powerful reminder that they are seen, valued, and supported,” said Gordon.
