Cubs Charities Celebrate Diamond Project Investment

Cubs Charities recently committed $3 million in capital funding over three years to upgrade facilities at youth baseball and softball fields across Chicago through the Diamond Project in honor of the Chicago Cubs 150th anniversary as a National League franchise. On Saturday, April 25, Cubs Charities, in partnership with the Chicago Park District, honored the commitment with a ribbon cutting and community celebration at Dawes Park in Auburn Gresham. Through the Diamond Project, Cubs Charities’ investment at Dawes Park has restored the field to varsity level and resurfaced the infield. Marquee Sports Network on-air talent Cole Wright emceed for the event. Mayor Brandon Johnson, Alderman Derrick Curtis, Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Carlos Ramirez-Rosa and Cubs Charities Executive Director and Vice President Lea Jesse were all in attendance. The Diamond Project is Cubs Charities’ flagship capital investment program that supports baseball and softball field renovations throughout Chicago in partnership with the Chicago Park District, Chicago Public Schools and community organizations.
