Chicago City Clerk Anna Valencia officially launched her campaign for re-election via a video on her social media platform. Since first taking office in 2017, Valencia has focused on modernizing government services, expanding civic engagement, and ensuring City Hall works for every Chicagoan. Under her leadership, the Office of the City Clerk has launched groundbreaking initiatives including the CityKey Municipal ID program, Mobile City Hall events that bring government services to neighborhoods across Chicago, modernizing voting and recordkeeping so residents can keep up with their City Council, NextGen civic engagement partnership with Chicago Public Schools, an Amnesty Month initiative that gives drivers the opportunity to get their City Sticker without late fees or backcharges, and more. “Serving as Chicago City Clerk is an honor and I don’t take the opportunity to work for Chicagoans for granted,” Valencia said. Valencia launched her re-election bid with endorsements from Cook County Commissioner (and Democratic Nominee for Congress) Donna Miller, Alderperson Michelle Harris and Alderperson Andre Vasquez.
