During the final day of the 6-week Summer Day Camp experience at McKinley Park, 221 W. Pershing Rd., in Chicago’s Southwest Side, more than 50 campers were treated to a carnival-style send-off with bouncy houses, a dunk tank, putt-putt course, ring-toss inflatable, and more activities. The fun-filled day culminated with a backpack giveaway to prepare students for the start of the academic year. CVS Health provided the campers with markers, glue, pencils, and more school supplies after presenting the Chicago Park District’s Financial Assistance Fund with a $50,000 grant to continue to support kids unable to pay for Summer Day Camp and year-round after-school programming in parks citywide. This year, more than 35,000 children enrolled in a camp at the Park District, and we hope that other donors will take their lead and donate to the Financial Assistance Fund to help bring even more resources to our youth.
