Chicago based not for profit, Latino Art Beat now in its 29th anniversary year promoting higher education to young aspiring artists and filmmakers, has organized over 600 pounds of badly needed medical supplies for the Children’s Cancer Hospital, Havana, Cuba (Instituto de Oncologia y Radiobiologia) a not-for profit hospital. Such supplies were well received by the Sub-Director for Pediatric Cancer patients, Dra. Cecilia Navarrete Dávalos. Many individuals and organizations were involved to make sure these medical supplies reached their intended destination in Havana. Founder and CEO of Latino Art Beat Don Rossi Nuccio earlier this year on a recent trip to Cuba, brought nearly 80 pounds of medical supplies and personally presented them to the hospital realizing that the next tranche would need to be much larger. With the help of Roseland Community Hospital in Chicago that objective was met. Nuccio recently brought a delegation from the Cuban Embassy, Washington D.C. to visit this Chicago hospital who was praised for working with Latino Art Beat in raising these humanitarian supplies.
