Winter Overnight Parking Ban Returns

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local NewsDespite unseasonably mild temperatures, Chicago’s Winter Overnight Parking Ban resumed last weekend. The ban will be enforced along 107 miles of critical arterial streets through April 1, 2013, between the hours of 3 a.m. to 7 a.m., regardless of snow.

Drivers who ignore the overnight ban prevent critical routes from being fully plowed and salted when it snows. During a heavy snowfall, a build-up of snow next to parked vehicles on these routes further reduces traffic flow. Violators who ignore the ban face a $150 towing fee (minimum), a $60 ticket and a storage fee of $10 per day that increases over time. The City of Chicago reminds motorists to park in a safe, legal space this winter to help keep vital streets clear and safe.
