The Summit for Clinical Excellence will hold a conference entitled Freud Meets Buddha on March 7-10 at the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza River North in Chicago. The conference is targeted toward private practice therapists as well as addiction professionals and social workers. It comes at a time when the need is greater than ever. According to the most recent National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 21 million people age 12 or older need substance use treatment – that’s about 1 in 13 people. However, only 3.8 million people received any substance use treatment in the past year. In addition, 6.8 million adolescents and young adults had a major depressive episode in the last year, and more than 44 million adults have a mental illness.  The 11th annual national conference will explore the intersection of traditional psychotherapeutic techniques with Eastern concepts, such as mindfulness, to provide patients with a holistic approach to addressing their mental health needs. Attendees can earn up to 24 hours of continuing education credits, including six Ethics CE Hours. Additional highlights on the agenda and speakers as well as registration information can be found at www.ChicagoSummitConference.com.
