Alaina Hampton, the woman who came forward about workplace sexual harassment she experienced while working for the Democratic Party of Illinois and Friends of Michael J. Madigan as a political staffer and campaign manager, announced on Wednesday that she will be launching Chicago’s first “#MeToo Meetup” beginning next month.  “After the NPR profile came out about my experience with anxiety and lack of recovery options, some women reached out to me on social media expressing they had similar problems,” said Hampton. “One woman stuck out to me because she said she has searched for support groups regarding this specific issue and couldn’t find any. That’s where this idea came from.”  The first #MeToo Meetup will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 from 6p.m. to 8p.m., at Great Central Brewing Company, 221 N Wood and will feature special guest State Rep. Kelly Cassidy discussing legislative actions taken over the past year to combat workplace sexual harassment. Those who are interested in the group are encouraged to sign-up for more information on Hampton’s website or to join the Chicago Workplace Sexual Harassment | #MeToo Meetup group.
