Cardiovascular disease is not only the leading cause of death for both men and women, it is also the leading contributor to the life expectancy disparity between Blacks and whites in this country, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  In commemoration of American Heart Month, The Loretto Hospital is offering free heart screenings for uninsured or underinsured residents of Chicago’s Austin neighborhood and surrounding communities throughout the month of February. The Loretto Hospital will also offer free CT Calcium Score scans, which check for calcium deposits in the coronary arteries that can narrow blood vessels and increase the risk of a heart attack. The Loretto Hospital is offering same day heart screenings for those who qualify. For more information or to schedule a screening, call at 833-TLH-LOVE or visit https://www.lorettohospital.org.
