The City of Chicago’s Community Development Commission (CDC) unanimously voted on the sale of an 11-acre parcel of land by 31st Street and Kedzie Avenue for a $589 million community development project. This parcel of land is part of the 22-acre Focal Point Community Campus, a Chicago Southwest Development Corporation project. “Acquiring this parcel of land is a large piece of the puzzle to build the Focal Point Community Campus for Chicago,” said Guy A. Medaglia, President and CEO of Chicago Southwest Development Corporation. “Getting to this point has been a long and difficult journey, but CSDC is here to build Focal Point for the communities it will serve. We will never stop moving forward until the campus doors are open at 31st and Kedzie. Our neighborhoods are expecting this campus to be there for them, and we will deliver.” The Focal Point campus is dedicated to bridging the gap between communities on the West and Southwest Sides of Chicago. This self-sustaining national model is designed around five pillars to be the epicenter for growth and development. These include early childhood development, education, health and wellness, affordable housing, and workforce development. To learn more about Focal Point, please visit focalpointchicago.org.
