The holiday season has officially arrived, and ComEd employees are once again working to make this December bright for nonprofits throughout the Chicagoland region. The company launched its “12 Days of Community Energy” campaign, which highlights how its employees are donating their time, energy, and financial resources to support those in need. Philanthropy and volunteerism are key elements of ComEd’s company culture. In 2017 alone, employees have logged more than 25,000 volunteer hours, a number that has grown consistently every year. In addition to donating time, ComEd employees have also offered their financial support to local charities this year, giving $1.26 million through an Employee Giving Campaign with United Way and nearly $63,000 on Giving Tuesday, which was November 28th.

Here are some of ComEd employees’ 12 Days of Energy projects:

Dec. 13 – Sorting volunteered items, such as Christmas dinner packages, clothing, and toys, that will be donated to deserving families at Respond Now’s Christmas Store.

Dec. 16 – Honoring our nation’s heroes buried at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery by assisting Wreaths Across America with their flag line and the placing of wreaths on veterans’ graves.

Dec. 16 – Helping sort and load food, toys, gifts, and bikes for delivery as a part of the Optimist Club of Oswegoland’s Family Christmas Project.

Dec. 18 – Ensuring a fun game of bingo for senior citizens at Meals on Wheels Bingo at Levy Senior Center by visiting with participants and bringing prizes for winners.

Dec. 19 – Helping distribute gifts to dual language students at Lozano Elementary School while they meet with Santa.

Dec. 21 – Assisting with preparations and cleanup at Casa Central’s Winter Celebration, in addition to helping prepare and serve food at the event.
