AT&T contributed $1 million to the Obama Foundation to support three programs helping Chicago youth develop leadership skills and prepare for expanded opportunities in life.  The contribution supports Obama Foundation Community Leadership Corps, Obama Youth Jobs Corps and My Brother’s Keeper Alliance. “All students deserve opportunities to reach their full potential. By removing barriers, sparking innovative solutions and making connections, we can help every student achieve a bright, successful future,” said Charlene Lake, SVP-Corporate Social Responsibility and Chief Sustainability Officer at AT&T Inc. “The Obama Foundation’s mission to inspire, empower, and connect people to change their world aligns with AT&T’s commitment to young people in Chicago and throughout the country. We are proud to support these important initiatives.”

The contribution is part of AT&T’s Believe Chicago initiative designed to improve lives and lift 19 Chicago neighborhoods most impacted by gun violence and high unemployment. “We believe in Chicago.  That’s why we’re supporting the Obama Foundation’s work to help inspire and empower youth in Chicago,” said Eileen Mitchell, AT&T Illinois President. “Through our Believe Chicago initiative, we are helping people who live in Chicago neighborhoods suffering from gun violence and high unemployment find opportunities they deserve to succeed in education, careers, and life.” The contribution is made possible by AT&T through the AT&T Aspire initiative. Aspire creates connections and drives innovation in education to increase student success in school and beyond. Together, these connections are helping students and communities across America, including here in Chicago. Believe Chicago is an extension of AT&T Believes℠, a larger company-wide initiative, which aims to create positive change in local communities.
