After receiving more than 1 million votes in the General Election, Commissioner-Elect Eira L. Corral Sepúlveda was sworn in as Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) Commissioner through a virtual ceremony on Tuesday, December 8th.  Through this ceremony, Corral Sepúlveda becomes the first Latina on the MWRD Board of Commissioners. She will also be the youngest and first Commissioner in recent history to come from the Northwest suburbs of Cook County. “It is always exciting to be a trailblazer and to imagine how your work will open doors for others,” said Corral Sepúlveda. “I was motivated to run for MWRD Commissioner by the urgency of climate change and the need for a greener and more equitable future. I am ready to get to work ensuring that the MWRD is a national leader in stormwater management, public health and resilience to climate change.”   The ceremony will also reinstall Commissioners Kimberly du Buclet and Cameron Davis, who campaigned in partnership with Corral Sepúlveda as the “Dems for Water” slate.
