The start of a New Year and long-awaited arrival of snow brings winter fun to the Forest Preserves of Cook County. Join us for programs and events in January and February! From enjoying the warmth of a campfire to exploring the snowy trails of the Forest Preserves, there are plenty of opportunities for Cook County residents to get outside and experience nature throughout winter. Learn woodworking skills at Rolling Knolls in Elgin on Jan. 14, give back to the land at Sand Ridge Nature Center in South Holland on Jan. 17, learn how the groundhog got its own holiday at Trailside Museum of Natural History in River Forest on Feb. 2, head out on a scavenger hunt at LaBagh Woods in Chicago on Feb. 9, and join fellow photographers to capture scenic winter photos on Feb. 22.
