More Red, More Blue America
By Daniel Nardini
Instead of finding dialog and finding commonality to build political bridges, U.S. President Donald Trump and the Republican Party have attempted to stack the deck for the next congressional elections by re-arranging the voting districts in Red (Republican-controlled) states to shut out Democrat voters. The Democrats are following suit by re-arranging largely Republican areas in their states to make their state solidly Blue (Democrat). This does more to kill voter representation and only make the battle lines so much worse not just between the two ruling political parties but whole counties, regions and communities. All this does is perpetuate a vicious cycle where either the Democrats or the Republicans will win and push more extreme agendas and cause more partisanship and violence than before. In my view, no matter what either side try to do, the congressional elections will take place in November of 2026, and the odds are the Democrats will win that election cycle.
But to what end? Even if the Democrats take control of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, what will be achieved? Will rule of law be any better advanced? Will the anger and partisanship end? Will the White House even remotely work with the U.S. Congress if it is Democrat? We saw this back in 2018—we are on a collision course with history. In this hyper-partisan climate, the whole political process has become a zero sum game; winner take all. Except that the winners cannot take it all, and the losers will simply bide their time to seek revenge. We have simply entered a vicious political cycle which will take down all of America.
