During the Chicago White Sox game against Cincinnati Tuesday night, the Sox held a Pope Hate giveaway. As a Chicago celebration of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV’s White Sox fandom, all White Sox fans attending the game received a limited-edition Pope Hat promotional item. The Gameday recognitions included a Ceremonial first pitch by Sister Mary Jo Sobieck of the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, the National Anthem was performed by iconic organist Nancy Faust, and the “play ball” announcement was done by former White Sox pitcher Donn “The Pope” Pall.
